I was born and raised in the Denver Colorado area. Throughout my life I have been active in many sports and during high school I primarily played Lacrosse. I have a wonderful family that consists of my wife Melissa, my four sons (Austin, Cody, Tyler, Levi), and my daughter (Ashley). We love the outdoors and being active. Over the past several years, I have participated in several triathlons. In addition, I love the mountains and am an active hiker. I also continue to play several sports when I have the time; mostly racquetball, basketball, and golf.
I received my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Accounting from Brigham Young University in 2008. I had the opportunity to intern with both EchoStar and Ernst and Young while at BYU. I also earned my CPA in the summer of 2008. I then went on to receive my Ph.D. from the University of Arizona in the spring of 2013 and am currently an associate professor at Florida State University. I am teaching financial accounting and empirical research methods at FSU and my research focuses on financial accounting, corporate governance, and auditing topics.
